One part of it is funding rules, programming on Diagon Yolu Peaky Blinders Team Beyaz shirt receives less funding than programming on BBC1, as BBC2 is for more niche and/or alternative content. Once something is sufficiently popular it is moved to BBC1 so it can get ‘bigger and better’ (which is why you’ll often notice an increase in production quality once a program makes the channel change).

On the flip side, the transfer to BBC One usually comes at the price. QI became popular because it had a rotating core of guests that worked well. Once Diagon Yolu Peaky Blinders Team Beyaz shirt moved to BBC One it was decided it had to have more general appeal, so they’d bring in random celebrities for one episode who weren’t particularly funny and brought very little to it. I’d completely forgotten that QI was on BBC One for a while. I think your reasoning is partly why Top Gear never moved to BBC One

Why would something popular be watched by more people because it’s on channel 1, as opposed to channel 2? I’d understand if they were moving a program from Diagon Yolu Peaky Blinders Team Beyaz shirt, BBC Three (back when that was a thing) or BBC Four, but surely moving it from one dial to the next wouldn’t make that much difference? That’s because the popular shows are put on BBC1 and the niche ones on BBC2. If they started mixing things up and putting Eastenders and Strictly on BBC2, you’d likely see those figures change.
