I think access to healthcare is a start, but we need to pour our resources into attempting to “solve” the mental health crisis of western society. We’ve got millions of hyper-disenfranchised people and a media culture that propagates every toxic divide imaginable. As people said above there’s really no solution to this until we take away the power of traditional media. We started to do that with the internet but anything capitalism touches is inevitably tainted – big data and Adsense algorithms let them buy it up and turn it into TV 2.0.

I normally don’t mind this response but it bothers me greatly when it is suggested things like mental health are the issue and then we do nothing. It has been acknowledged there are issues where Because I Was Inverted Merica Shirt isn’t the gun as the problem, but no one seems motivated enough to really lift a finger to the designated problems. I was just listing things off the top of my head. Mental health is up there for sure. Mentally healthy people do not go in an shoot up schools… as somebody who has had very mentally ill people in my family and my wife’s family… that system is Because I Was Inverted Merica Shirt. The cost of getting help is too high and few insurances cover mental health, A lot of mental health professionals are overbooked, and a lot are not equipped to deal with some of the serious issues. They tend to over drug people as a form of control, vs really trying to get somebody to a functional state
